Ilyich Steel Works automates steel rolling processes

Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol automates the technological processes of strip rolling at the 4-stand mill of the cold rolling shop. According to the general director of the plant, Yuri Zinchenko, now the specialists are completing the commissioning of a new control system for the mill modes.

The SORS was developed by the specialists of our automation department, together with the technological staff, and the Zaporozhye specialists implemented the idea.

The heart of the entire system is the control cabinet, which operates on the basis of a programmable logic controller, and using the operator panel, the roller operator can select the desired mode according to the rolling schedule.

SORS manages the main mechanisms of the mill. It is capable of generating rolling modes from the built-in database, determining rolling parameters for the selected assortment, and also allows visualizing the technological process.

Thanks to this smart system, we can not only improve the efficiency of the mill, the quality of the products, but also reduce the influence of the human factor on the technological process.
