Zaporizhstal increases supplies of steel for pipe production

The share of sales of metal products to pipe enterprises accounts for 50 percent of the total sales of the Zaporizhstal metallurgical plant of the Metinvest Group. In 10 months of 2015, Rinat Akhmetov's plant achieved an increase in sales of hot-rolled steel to the domestic market by 6 percent due to an increase in supplies to pipe enterprises, with a general tendency to reduce the consumption of rolled metal in Ukraine by 20 percent.

“Joint well-coordinated work with pipe industry enterprises against the backdrop of the crisis in the Ukrainian economy and the situation on world markets is a vivid example of how it is necessary to develop cooperation within the state. By developing relations with pipe enterprises, we support the pipe industry, we increase the export potential of our country, ”said Vladimir Kolomiets, Sales Director of Zaporizhstal PJSC.

On November 25, 2015 Zaporizhstal was visited by representatives of Ukrainian pipe industry enterprises - key customers of the plant - PJSC Kominmet, Interpipe NMPP, TZ Trubostal and others. During the visit, the meeting participants discussed the development of further cooperation with the plant in a crisis economy.

The meeting participants noted that the Ukrainian government completely refused to support the industry, which, against the background of the deteriorating situation in the global market, led to crisis phenomena within the country.

“Despite the fact that the general situation on the world markets is difficult, the domestic market fell by 40-50 percent, there is no support from the state, together with Zaporizhstal we will overcome this difficult time and will manufacture competitive pipe products,” the director said PJSC "Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical Plant named after Komintern" Sergey Egorov.
