Turkey's terms on the refugee deal

Turkey has formulated its conditions for concluding a deal with the EU: Ankara wants, as soon as possible, a visa-free regime to the Schengen zone for Turks; receiving three billion euros; Turkey also wants EU support for territorial expansion in Syrian territory.

Expansion: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan proposed the construction of a refugee "city" in northern Syria before the refugee summit in Brussels. The city could be built close to the border with the help of the international community, Erdogan said on Saturday.

He has already spoken with US President Barack Obama about plans to create a city of refugees in northern Syria, but the negotiations "have not yet borne fruit." Erdogan did not specify the time frame for the implementation of the project. Indeed, Turkey's territorial claims to the Syrian territories are very old, they have existed since the days of the Ottoman Empire.

The EU is already facilitating the deportation of refugees from Turkey. For the first projects this week, 95 million euros were allocated. They should go to educate Syrian refugee children and create an electronic food ration card system.
