Electricity is more expensive for Polish metallurgists than in Germany and France

Electricity is more expensive for Polish metallurgists than in Germany and France
Energy-intensive companies in Germany and France pay much less for electricity than their counterparts in Poland. This is the conclusion made by Polish experts, comparing the components of the cost of electricity resource-intensive enterprises in Poland, Germany and France.

In France, energy-intensive enterprises pay € 27 per MWh and € 5 for transmission, for a total of € 32 per MWh. In Germany, energy-intensive companies pay € 23 per MWh and € 13 for transmission, for a total of € 36 per MWh. In Poland, electricity costs reach 51.44 euros per MWh, thanks to fees for “indirect emissions” from Polish thermal power plants.

Due to the fact that carbon dioxide emissions per 1 MWh of electricity is one of the highest in the EU, the cost of CO2 rights, which are included in the cost of energy, is of particular importance for Polish industrial consumers, therefore production costs are increasing, posing a threat to the competitiveness of the Polish metallurgy and other energy-intensive industries.
