USA imposes import duties on corrosion-resistant steels

The US Department of Commerce has imposed additional import duties on corrosion-resistant steel from China and other countries in an effort to protect its industry from an oversupply of steel imports from around the world.
The International Trade Department investigated the dumping of steel products in the US markets and stated that it found evidence of dumping of Corrosion Resistant Steel (CORE) imports from various manufacturers from China, India, Italy, Korea and Taiwan.

As a result, the department said that Chinese corrosion-resistant products would be subject to a final anti-dumping duty of 210 percent.

Anti-dumping tariffs of 1 to 92 percent will apply to imports from various manufacturers in South Korea, Italy, India and Taiwan (although it has been exempted from the duty).
The United States said that in 2015 CORE imports from China, India, Italy, Korea and Taiwan were valued at approximately $ 500.30 million, $ 219.6 million, $ 110 million, $ 509.1 million, and $ 534.4 million, respectively.

Low-cost metal producers in China are cited as the main culprit holding back prices, oversaturation of global steel production. Last week, the US imposed tariffs of more than 500 percent on Chinese cold rolled steels used in automobile manufacturing. China was accused by the US of the largest "dumping" and that due to the slowdown in the growth of domestic demand and supply, it is ready to do anything to gain a share in the world market.
