In 2015, gas consumption in the European Union increased by 4.6 percent and amounted to 402.1 billion cubic meters.
The EU accounted for 11.5 percent of global gas consumption last year. World gas consumption in 2015 reached 3.468 trillion cubic meters.
According to the data, gas consumption in the EU in the period 2005-2015 decreased by 97.4 billion cubic meters.
Europe is estimated to have imported 401.4 billion cubic meters of gas in 2015 through pipelines. In particular, 159.8 billion cubic meters were received from Russia, 109.5 billion cubic meters were supplied by Norway, 40.6 billion cubic meters - by the Netherlands.
