Statistics released by the World Steel Association show that global production of blast furnace iron fell 2% in June this year.
Production was 97.536 million tonnes for the month, up from 99.472 million tonnes in the previous month. The semi-annual output amounted to 572.161 million tons. It should be noted that this information is based on the results recorded by 39 countries, which account for 99% of world pig iron production.
The output of the Asian region accounts for almost 78% of the total world production and reached 76.073 million tons within a month. Leading Asian producers in June this year: China (59.740 million tons), Japan (6.659 million tons), India (4.925 million tons) and South Korea (3.554 million tons). Aggregate production in the Asia region was 444.073 million tonnes in the first six months of 2016.
