European companies count on the development of Iran's Caspian fields

Companies from the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom are offering Tehran to implement oil and gas projects in the Caspian Sea.

The Europeans would like to explore the area and develop possible areas of cooperation. This was discussed in a series of meetings, according to the IRNA news agency, citing the deputy general director of the National Iranian Oil Company Qolamreza Manuchehri.

Iran offered foreigners for exploration and development 4 projects in the blocks of the Caspian Sea, as well as the Sardar-e Jangal oil field.

Iran divides the exploration area in the Caspian into 46 blocks, 8 of which are priority ones. Iran has carried out 3D seismic works in 4000 sq. km of the Caspian Sea in blocks 6, 7, 8 and 21 in the period from 2003 to 2005.

Iran also announced that in 2012, while drilling the Caspian Sea at the Amir Kabir rig, the country found a gas field. A year later, Tehran announced that (Sardar-e Jangal) was in fact an oil field with a gas layer. The crane of the Amir Kabir drilling rig crashed in March 2015.
