Lithuania has provided 150 tons of ammunition for the Ukrainian government forces involved in the war against separatists in eastern Ukraine, said Lithuanian Defense Minister Juozas Olekas.
It is one of the few NATO countries that have decided to provide Ukraine with a lethal weapon. Olekas said that Lithuania responded in this way to the request raised by Ukraine and added that it is an obligation to provide assistance to "a faithful friend who was attacked by Russia."
The minister noted that this is the second delivery of Lithuanian weapons to Ukraine, first of the conflict with pro-Russian separatists in Donbass. Kiev and the West have accused Moscow of military support from Russia, which Moscow has denied. The conflict has already killed 9.6 thousand people, and it does not look like it will end anytime soon.
