Zaporizhstal reported on the implementation of the environmental modernization program

In the period from 2012 to 2016, Zaporzhstal invested more than UAH 5.6 billion in the environmental modernization of production, which made it possible to significantly reduce air emissions. The most important investment project for the plant is the construction of an oxygen-converter shop to replace the outdated open-hearth furnace. The volume of investments in the project is over $ 1.3 billion.

All funds earned by the plant, starting in 2012, are fully reinvested in environmental modernization. The main projects for the environmental modernization of the plant during this period are: a new sinter machine No. 1 with highly efficient gas cleaning, the construction of gas purifiers on sinter machines No. 2-6, a large-scale modernization of blast furnace No. construction of a new aspiration system for the foundry, construction of a new pickling line for the cold rolling shop (NTA-4).

At the moment, the plant is carrying out preparatory work for the construction of an oxygen-converter shop. Investing in the project involves investing its own funds in the amount of UAH 300 million. The construction of the converter shop will allow the plant to completely abandon the outdated open-hearth production and significantly reduce the harmful load on the environment. This will ensure a reduction in atmospheric emissions by 25% of the total emissions of the plant.
