Ukraine became the largest exporter of agglomerated iron ore to China

From January to September 2016, China's iron ore imports increased by 9%, and amounted to 762.594 million tons in nine months. However, the total value of imports in the country fell by almost 6.3% over the year. Australia was the largest exporter of iron ore to China during this period. Imports from Australia amounted to 476.95 million tons, worth $ 25.205 million. Import prices averaged $ 52.8 per ton.

Imports of agglomerated iron ore in the period from January to September 2016 amounted to 11.119 million tons, down 41.1% compared to the same period a year earlier. The largest exporter of agglomerated iron ore to China was Ukraine. Exports from the country amounted to 2.749 million tons. The cost of imports of iron ore from Ukraine amounted to $ 197.009 million. The price of imports averaged $ 71.7 per ton. Other key exporters are India (2.017 million tonnes), Brazil (1.743 million tonnes) and Australia (1.650 million tonnes).

Imports of non-agglomerated iron ore reached 751.475 million tons in January-September 2016, accounting for more than 98.5% of total imports, an increase of 10.5% on an annualized basis. The country imported non-agglomerated iron ore mainly from Australia. Imports from Australia amounted to 475.3 million tons at an average price of $ 52.8 per ton.
