A rolling mill was shut down at SSAB Spetsstal in Oxelösund during scheduled maintenance in early December last year. ABB has replaced the rolling mill power management system.
However, during the scheduled restart, the transformer broke down, as previously reported. After the repair, during the restart of the power unit of the rolling mill, another of six similar transformers failed.
ABB is now repairing this transformer and troubleshooting the control system. This work is expected to last for three weeks.
SSAB announced that the estimated loss in production and supply will be around 70,000 tonnes. Before the repeated unsuccessful launch, the losses were estimated at 40 thousand. tons. These losses will be reflected in the results of the last quarter of last year and in the first quarter of this year.
