Donbass started sending coal to Russia. This is an attempt to find funds for the functioning of the rebellious region.
The supply of coal to Russia leads to a complete change in the direction of trade. Until now, raw materials from Donbass were sent to Ukraine. However, there has been an escalation of the conflict lately. This is due to the blockade of railway transport routes to Donbass, organized by Ukrainian activists in eastern Ukraine. The separatists accuse the government in Kiev of blocking the sale of coal.
According to experts, Ukraine made a decision that cut off the rebellious province from funding. In order to make money, Donbass will have to find new customers for their coal. Due to their geographical location, in practice, they can only be in Russia. This, in turn, could lead to internal strife, as the Ukrainian coal market will compete with the Russian one.
Before the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the Donbass Basin was the main supplier of coal to Ukraine. Nevertheless, Kiev, for various reasons, began to restrict the use of this fuel in the country. Now, to a greater extent, raw materials are imported, among other things, from Russia.
