Coal production in Poland in September fell 9% year-on-year to 5.63 million tonnes, while sales fell 36% to 5.4 million tonnes. However, output was up 5.6% month-over-month and sales were up 0.2% month-over-month.
Production from Polish mines in September was the highest since March, when production totaled just over 6 million tonnes. Monthly production and sales have never dropped below 5 million tons since 2007. Production in Polish mines has been steadily declining in recent years. In January 2007, the volume of production and sales amounted to more than 8 million tons.
At the end of September, the country's mines accumulated 2.2 million tons of coal, according to the data, an increase of 10% from 2 million tons a year earlier. In September, the average price of thermal coal sold by thermal and industrial CHP plants reached $ 56.36 per ton, which is 4.6% more than last year. The average price of coal sold in a district heating plant increased by 19% year on year.
