By the end of 2024, the amount of emissions reduction in Cherepovets exceeded the planned 20% within the framework of the Clean Air project. In Mednogorsk and Lipetsk, the reduction rate was about 15%. Such data is provided by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia. The task of improving air quality is an important part of the People's Program of the United Russia Party. The result was achieved thanks to the coordinated work of the population, authorities, and businesses. The main measures to reduce emissions were the renovation of transport infrastructure and the modernization of industrial enterprises. Rosprirodnadzor carried out an inspection of a number of measures, its results confirmed the effect of reducing emissions.
The next step will be the installation of online monitoring devices for harmful emissions and discharges at all large polluting enterprises.
Since September 1, 2023, 29 cities have joined the federal Clean Air project. Most of them are located in Siberia and the Far East.
