Colombia’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism has opened an antidumping investigation into imports of certain iron and steel sections from China and Turkey. The investigation follows an application by domestic producers Diaco and Ternium Colombia.
The inquiry covers alloy and non-alloy L- and U-shaped sections that are hot-rolled or hot-extruded and no more than 101.60 mm (four inches) high. The products are classified under Colombian tariff codes 7216.10.00.00, 7216.21.00.00, 7216.31.00.00, 7216.40.00.00 and 7228.70.00.00.
In a notice published on October 23, the ministry invited interested parties to submit reasoned views and supporting evidence, including questionnaire responses, within 30 working days of publication.
The ministry has also issued questionnaires to importers, Turkish producers and exporters, and the Turkish government. The investigation will examine whether dumping occurred and its effect on Colombian producers.
