Zaporizhstal shared its experience in the environmental modernization of the plant

An innovative testing ground for the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) was held in Kiev, which brought together participants from all over Ukraine. Alexey Lebedev, Director for Capital Construction and Investments, spoke about the achievements of the Zaporizhstal plant in environmental reconstruction.

Alexey Lebedev made a presentation "Positive and negative aspects of using BIM in large investment projects." On the example of the successfully implemented case of Zaporizhstal - the project of ecological reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3, Alexey Lebedev drew the attention of his colleagues to the high efficiency of the implemented solutions. The use of BIM modeling made it possible to combine 15 thousand two-dimensional drawings, eliminate more than 11 thousand errors at the design stage and subsequently control the entire modernization process.

The complex of high-tech solutions allowed Zaporizhstal to significantly reduce the time for the ecological reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3 from 2 years to 8 months. The plant's investments in the project amounted to UAH 1.9 billion. Since 2012, Zaporizhstal has allocated UAH 9 billion for environmental modernization.
