New plans for Ukrainian metallurgy

According to the Metallurgprom association, the metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine intend to maintain the production of cast iron by the end of the year and began to melt 2 million 650 thousand tons of steel and produce 2 million 400 thousand tons of cast iron in December 2012. In addition, the Ukrainian metallurgical industry is going to increase the production of finished metal rolling to 2 million 370 thousand tons.

Throughout 2012, the metallurgical plants of Ukraine, according to preliminary estimates, will be made 29 million tons of cast iron, 33 million tons of steel and 27 million tons of metal rolling.

Ukrainian metallurgists have not yet formed plans for 2013, or do not want to talk about it openly today. Given the rapidly worsening situation in international markets and, in particular in the European Union, our steel production cannot always form production plans a month in advance, said Vasily Kharahulah, general director of the Metallurgprom.

With the onset of the autumn-winter period, Ukrainian met enterprises began to consume more gas. In October 2012, they used 1.1% of natural gas more than in the month of September. In total, over October, the consumption of gas to the mains of Ukraine amounted to 280 million cubic meters, with an average daily flow rate of 9 million meters.

Recall that in October, the production of steel in Ukraine fell by 15% to 2 million 548 thousand tons. “The financial result is deplorable. The costs and price of the foreign market were so close that some enterprises are obviously unprofitable, ”said Vasily Kharkhulah.
