On November 14, 2012, a press conference was held at the initiative of the Metinvest group, in which the General Director of the Metinvest Igor Swedge group, director of the Metallurgical Division of the group Metinvest Alexander Pogozhev, General Director of the Mariupol Mammuck for Ilyich, the general director Azovstali, Alekhi Bely and the mayor of Mariupol Yuri Yuri, took part Hot.
Representatives of the powerful Corporation Metinvest and their Mariupol partners said that they were not indifferent to the fate of Mariupol and the health of its inhabitants. Metinvest is aware of the responsibility for the life, health and well -being of all residents of Mariupol, including those who do not work at the enterprises belonging to the group, the Ilychevets newspaper reports.
“Metinvest hears constructive opinions and has already demonstrated that he was ready for decisive measures that they are expected from the company,” Igor Swedh emphasized during the conference. “We did a huge job, and thanks to our investments on Azovstal, the Marten Workshop, three coke batteries, and now (for a period of one month) and an agglopric” have already been stopped.
“The situation of metallurgists today is worse than in the conditions of the 2008 crisis, which the plants included with a certain margin of safety,” the director of the Ilyich MMK Vladimir Boyko curled up, “and, in addition, the lack of financial reserves is aggravated today and a drop in the price of metal distribution in foreign markets. Over the past few years, prices have fallen 2-2.5 times for certain types of products. Despite this, after entering the Metinvest group, we were able to carry out enormous work on the reconstruction of production, receiving investments in the modernization of the main capacities. You can compare the numbers of the dynamics of emissions for the period from the late 80s with the figures of the current year. The analysis shows that the fixed dust emissions decreased by 3 times, gaseous substances - 2.5 times, solid particles - half. There are our efforts in these figures, which the Ilyich plant made by designing and building modern treatment facilities behind the first burst of the SPAK electrifilters. According to Vladimir Boyko, metallurgists understand exactly in which direction to move and how much funds will be required for this. It is much more difficult, in his opinion, to deal with unorganized emissions. “Today we are working closely on the localization of these, unorganized emissions,” said Vladimir Boyko. “And if the technical solution is found, then we will be able to neutralize unorganized emissions by 60-70%.”
The General Director Azovstal, Enver Tskitishvili, promised that Mariupol residents have already been studied about the environmental situation and as a result a special program was developed to improve the ecology of the city.
