Last month, the Zaporizhstal Mining Railway began to ship metal by river transport. For the first time in several years, the metallurgical enterprise sent leaf steel to the ports of the Black Sea through the Zaporizhzhya river port.
The grown railway tariffs pushed the leadership of Zaporizhstal to conclude an agreement with ASK Ukrrechflot, according to which up to 30 thousand tons of metal products will be transported by the Dnieper monthly.
Since the beginning of the new agreement, the Zaporizhzhya river port has already sent two batches of metal rolling to consumers. The first vessel with a load of rolled steel became safely reached the port of Diliskel in Turkey, and the second reached the Greek port of Thessalonika.
Until the end of 2012, Zaporozhstal expects to ship up to 40 thousand tons of metal rolling by river. The development of cooperation between the missile defense and the Rechflot will give an impetus to the development of the water economy of Ukraine as a whole.
Managers Zaporizhstal plan to transfer all their consumers located in the Black Sea basin to new logistics by loading the transshipment capacities of the Zaporizhzhya river port with a volume of 80 thousand tons of metal rolling monthly.
