The company "Mechel" stopped the production of steel and metal distribution at the Donetsk electrometallurgical plant DEMZ, the Kommersant newspaper reports. As we have already reported, on September 21, a meeting of shareholders of the Mechel group adopted Solution on the sale of DEMZ as a non -core asset. The intention was also stated to suspend steel production at the Donetsk Metallurgical Plant since November 15, 2012, in view of the lack of real demand.
Currently, DEMZ managers are implementing metal rolling from the residues that had previously accumulated in the production sections of the enterprise. 15,000 tons of metal products at reduced prices are put up today for sale.
In the "Sword", the correspondent of the Kommersant newspaper failed to get any comments on this topic. As experts of the metal rolling market explain, the decision on the complete stop of production at DEMZ is caused by the lack of export demand and the general loss of the enterprise.
The Donetsk Metallurgical Plant has already changed its owner several times. The Mechel group acquired it from Estar, which in turn bought a plant from the Istil Pakistani company. The performance of DEMZ units is a million two hundred thousand tons of steel per year.
