The leaf -beam press, put into operation today at OJSC Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant, is able to bend parts from rental with a thickness of more than 50 mm. At the same time, such a press develops an effort of up to 1000 tons.
“Before this, the factory equipment made it possible to work with a metal with a thickness of not more than 20 mm,” says Alexander Solovyov, General Director of OJSC, - “the process of reorienting production facilities for the construction of icebreakers, with the thickness of the body of more than 50 mm, pushed the enterprise to purchase and put the new leaf -bending press into operation.” Today, the specialists of the Vyborg Shipbuilding Plant can be produced flexion of metal the required thickness.
The first icebreaker, which will be built on OJSC "VSZ" will be the linear diesel-electrical icebreaker of the project 21900 m for the federal agency of sea and river transport. It is planned to lower the finished icebreaker into the water in October 2015.
