The German company SMS Siemag has provided information that it has intentions to modernize and expand the converter workshop No. 1 of the Indian steel company Visakhapatnam at the Vizag Steel metallurgical plant.
Work on modernization and expansion of the converter workshop is primarily aimed at increasing steel production volumes from 3.2 million tons of steel a year to 3.6 million tons of steel per year. Another important issue that is to be resolved is to reduce the harmful effects of environmental production. To this end, SMS Siemag plans to introduce a new installation of gas cleaning.
In addition, SMS Siemag plans to build a second converter shop for the Indian steel company Visakhapatnam. The production capacity of the new workshop will be 2.8 million tons. The converter shop is planned to be commissioned in 2014.
