Pig iron production in Russia decreased in January-August

According to the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat), over the eight months of this year, pig iron production in Russia decreased by 3% compared to the same period last year, amounting to 34.6 million tons.

In August alone, pig iron production in Russia amounted to 4.3 million tonnes, down 0.5% on the same month last year but up 2.8% on the previous month.

In terms of alloyed and non-alloyed steel products, Russian production in August was 5.87 million tons, down 1.3% from the same month last year and 6% from the previous month. Production in the first eight months of this year was 48.7 million tons, down 6% from last year.
