Tata Steel: Britain will need 10 million tons of steel

Tata Steel UK has indicated that the UK will need more than 10 million tons of steel in the coming years to provide itself with more energy.

Among them, the construction of thousands of wind turbines by 2030 will require more than 5 million tons of steel. In addition, by 2050, solar projects and nuclear power plants will require about 3.5 million tons of steel.

It was expected that 1.5 million tons of steel would be needed to build infrastructure for hydrogen production and distribution, as well as large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

Energy self-sufficiency has become a major issue in the UK due to high energy prices and significant government intervention in the energy market to cap prices.
