According to the German Steel Federation (WV Stahl), crude steel production in Germany fell 3.8% year-on-year in April to about 3.19 million tonnes. Meanwhile, German iron and hot-rolled steel production was 2.07 million tons and 2.73 million tons, down 3.4% and 7.2% from last year.
In the first four months of this year, crude steel production in Germany amounted to 12.35 million tons, a decrease of 5.9% compared to the corresponding period last year.
During the same period, German pig iron production was 8.14 million tonnes, down 1.8% year-on-year. Also, the production of hot-rolled steel decreased by 6.5% year on year to 10.89 million tons.
