The concept of "metrology" is very broad and refers not only to the measurement of various quantities or readings of devices, but also to the provision of the legislative scope of the industry. So, this concept can be applied in relation to ordinary measurements, various tests and, of course, to the control of the first two phenomena. At the same time, the level of metrology does not end with the limits of a particular enterprise, but applies to the entire state as a whole.
Metrology at enterprises
Separately, it should be said about large industrial enterprises, for which the part of the process directly related to the work of the metrological service is of interest. Partly for this reason, the term metrological support of the enterprise , it includes several main components. Here is a short list of them:
1. Professional analysis of all types of measurements;
2. Establishment and regulation of a rational nomenclature of available measured values, the use of instruments of the most appropriate accuracy for a particular situation;
3. Regular checking of measuring instruments, as well as their calibration in accordance with the standard adopted by the legislation;
4. Methodological work in the field of measurements and the provision of officially established standards of accuracy;
5. Expertise of technological and design documentation;
6. Implementation of mandatory documents that relate to industry, government or company affairs;
7. Personal accreditation for technical competence;
8. Conduct appropriate supervision.

From this list it becomes quite obvious that the tasks of metrology are directly related to the optimization of the operation of the enterprise, as well as to the increase in the level of the received profit.
