Industrial production increased by 1.1 percent in the euro area and 0.8 percent in the EU in May. In June of this year, compared with June 2024, industrial production increased by 0.2% in the euro area and by 0.5% in the EU-27 countries. These figures are published by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union.
Compared to May, in June, the production of durable goods decreased by 0.6 percent in the euro area and 0.4 percent in the EU-27, while the production of capital goods decreased by 2.2 percent in the euro area and 1.7 percent in the EU-27 compared to the previous month. In this month, the volume of short-term consumer goods decreased by 4.7 percent in the euro area and by 3.7 percent in the EU27, both months in a row. In June, intermediate goods production fell 0.2 percent in both areas, while energy production increased 2.9 percent in the euro area and 2.7 percent in the EU27, month-on-month.
Among the Member States in June, the largest increases compared to the previous month were recorded in Belgium (5.1%), France and Sweden (3.8% each) and Greece (3.3%), while the largest declines were recorded in Ireland (11.3%), Portugal (3.6%) and Lithuania (2.8%).
