Eduard Stavitsky, Minister of Energy and Coal Industry, believes that Gazprom’s demand for Naftogaz pay $ 7 billion for gas shortage for 2012 is unlawful. The minister reported this at a briefing.
"The account was issued for a volume that Ukraine has not taken at all. Therefore, I think that from a legal point of view, Ukraine has fulfilled all its obligations," said Eduard Stavitsky.
He emphasized that Ukraine fulfills the terms of the gas supply contract, timely and fully paying for the consumed gas.
At the same time, according to him, now Naftogaz lawyers are studying the debt requirement of Gazprom in order to provide a legally balanced answer.
Recall that the Russian Gazprom issued Naftogaz for about 7 billion dollars for the shortage of natural gas in 2012 based on the BEY or Plati claims stipulated by the contracts.
At the same time, Naftogaz emphasizes that the company fully paid for gas from Gazprom on previously issued bills. At the same time, Naftogaz has repeatedly informed the Russian company about the intention to reduce natural gas purchases in 2012.
In 2012, Ukraine reduced natural gas imports by 26.5% or 11 billion 863 900 000 m 3 compared to 2011 - up to 32 billion 939 300,000 m 3 .
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine believes that Naftogaz Gazprom owes nothing
