Arselormital will build roads in liberia

The Luxembourg branch of the largest metallurgical company in the world Arselormital announced today the signing of a contract with the liberia government for the construction of 70 km of the highway connecting the city of Gant and Ekepe. This was reported by the press service of the corporation.

The amount of the contract is $ 40 million. According to Arselormital managers, this means the official beginning of the process of building a road that takes place near the Mining and processing complex of the company located in the foothills of the Tokadech.

It is planned to start construction in November 2013 and complete in 2015.

Arselormital began commercial development of iron ore raw materials in liberia in September 2011 and in three months invested more than $ 800 million in repairing local roads and the construction of new infrastructure facilities.

Speaking on behalf of Arselormital liberia, the main executive director of the company Antonio Carlos said: "Today we are pleased to realize our promise to the people of liberia; the promise that Mr. Mittal made, chairman and chief executive director of Arselormital, President of liberia Ellen Johnson-Serlyf in 2011."

Recall that another Indian metallurgical company SESA Goa intends to begin the development of local iron ore deposits in early 2014.
