Magnitor publishes the results of operating activities in 2012

The Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Plant group (MMK) in 2012 smelted 13 million 37 thousand tons of steel, which is 6.9% more than in 2011 (12 million 195 thousand tons). This was reported in the group’s press release.

The production of metal rolling on the MMK increased by 7% and amounted to 11 million 936 thousand tons against 11 million 158 thousand tons in 2011.

The production of metered products on the MMK-metiz for 12 months of 2012 amounted to 493 thousand tons, which is 6.2% more than in 12 months of 2011.

Meanwhile, the MMK in the fourth quarter of 2012 reduced steel smelting by 11.6% to 2 million 969 thousand tons.

The total production of steel in the MMK group for the fourth quarter of 2012 amounted to 2 million 931 thousand tons, which is 8% less than in the third quarter of 2012.

The total production of commodity products in the MMK group for the fourth quarter of 2012 fell by 9.4% and amounted to 2 million 783 thousand tons

In the MMK group, the production of metal products with high value added (HVA) over 12 months of 2012 increased by 20%compared to 12 months of 2011 and amounted to 4 million 880 thousand tons. The share of metal products HVA in the total production for 12 months of 2012 amounted to 41%.

The production of coking coal concentrate for 12 months of 2012 amounted to 3 million 325 thousand tons, which is 3.4% more than in 2011.



The average price of the metal rolling for 12 months of 2012 decreased relative to the level of 12 months of 2011 by 10% and amounted to $ 678 per ton. The rate of reduction in the average sale price in the fourth quarter of 2012 relative to the third quarter of 2012 slowed down.

A higher average price of sale in the domestic market and the growth of domestic sales in 2012 made it possible to reduce the negative impact from ahead of price reduction in export markets.
