The head of Shell in Ukraine Graham Tyly promised to triple the amount of gas produced and at the same time not to violate the ecology of prey places

According to the head of Shell in Ukraine, Graham Tyly, to say when it is not yet possible to extract shale gas in Ukraine, however, in such cases, it usually takes place only a few years before pilot developments. He spoke about this in a television interview with correspondents of the Ukrainian television channel TBI.

“As for the volumes, I am convinced that Ukraine has potential to double or even triple its sovereign gas production. From 20 billion cubic meters, maybe up to 40 or 60 billion cubic meters, ”he said.

Slanted gas production in Ukraine, subject to relevant norms, presents a minimum risk to the environment. According to Graham Tyly, company representatives are actively discussing with politicians, ecologists and experts all aspects of environmental pollution problems during gas production.

“We communicated quite intensively with environmental groups in the Kharkov region. And it was a very fruitful dialogue. We are interested in communicating with everyone who is concerned - whether it be representatives of the public or non -governmental organizations. This dialogue is important to us. People feel anxiety - and this is understandable, because for them this is something new. Therefore, we must explain in detail everything we do, ”said the head of Shell in Ukraine.

“We are Burim approximately to a depth of 5 km. Ground waters are here, as a rule, at a depth of not more than a few tens of meters below the surface of the earth. The hydraulic expansion of the layer 1 will most likely be carried out at a depth of 4 km. The cracks that we do are no more than a few tens of meters. Thus, you have several kilometers of the breed between hydraulic lines and groundwater. The idea that these cracks will somehow lay the path to the surface meaningless, ”explains Graham Tyly.

He also emphasized that Shell adheres to very strict environmental security standards in everything and these standards are applied by company around the world.

As reported, on January 24, in Davos, with the participation of the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, an agreement was signed between Shell and Nadra Yuzovskaya on the section of profit from shale gas in the Kharkov and Donetsk regions.

Shell (Shell Exploration and Production Ukraine Investment BV) and SHEVron will not produce gas themselves, but with Ukrainian partners - joint ventures created by NAC NAKA Ukraine (90%) and a little -known company SPK -Geoservice (10%).

Recall that the opposition promises to initiate an investigation of all the details of the signing of the agreement between Shell and the Nadra Yuzovskaya company on the division of products.
