The investment of over 570 million euros represents a crucial step in Danieli's environmental and digital transition aimed at reducing environmental impacts and improving the energy efficiency of steel production.
As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the hybrid digital green plant, will become ABS's third electric arc furnace and combine Danieli's most advanced technologies in digitalization, automation and environmental sustainability. At full capacity, the new plant will produce about 730,000 metric tons of specialty steels per year, contributing to the ABS goal of 2 million tons of total annual production.
The new steelmaking plant will be equipped with a digitally controlled automated furnace powered by renewable energy sources of its own production, including solutions designed to reduce energy consumption by 15 percent and co₂ emissions by 25 percent, while ensuring full recovery of process water and products.
A closed water cycle and integrated management using Danieli automation systems will create an environmentally friendly, efficient and high-tech facility that fully complies with the principles of a closed-cycle economy.
The launch of operations is scheduled for the end of 2027 as part of Danieli's long-term strategy to strengthen its leadership in key areas. markets–Europe, USA, India and Japan–, while promoting a sustainable and digital steel industry.
