World production steel will grow by 4.7% to 1 billion 620 million tons in 2013 - Meps

According to the forecasts of analysts of the leading consulting company of the UK, MEPS production of unrefined steel in 2013 will be 1 billion 620 million tons, which is 4.7% more than in 2012. This indicator will become a new world record compared to 1 billion 548 million tons of reached last year, when the previous achievement was exceeded by 1.4%.

The production of cast iron will also be expanded to 1 billion 160 million tons in 2013.

The world will gain more and more popularity among the metallurgical companies in the world to obtain steel from iron recovery DRI 1 . The pace of development of this technology is set by India and the countries of the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the prospects of the global economy remain indefinite for MEPS experts. The countries of the Eurozone, according to their deep conviction, will swing on the waves of the recession by the end of the year, and the solution to the “fiscal cliff” of the USA is in doubt of analysts. In addition, the decline in the economy is also observed in developing countries.

Steel consumption in 2013 will be moderately recovering and will reach higher growth rates in 2014, predicted to MEPS.
