In 2012, Japan exported 1 million 176 thousand 513 tons of stainless steel, which is 6.4% less than in 2011, reports the Japanese Metallurgist Federation.
A slowdown in the growth of the global economy, as well as strengthening the yen regarding the US dollar, contributed to a decrease in exports.
The total cost of stainless steel exports from Japan in 2012 amounted to 4 trillion 956 billion 609 million US dollars. The average price of exported stainless steel was $ 4213/ton.
Meanwhile, the export of Japanese stainless metal products in December 2012 continued to fall by another 6.4% - up to 89 thousand 259 tons compared to the previous month.
