The Federation of the Construction industry of Egypt states that more than 60% of the contractors registered in it ceased their business over the past two years due to the collapse in local markets. This was told by the head of the Federation Hassan Abdel Aziz.
Mr. Abdel Aziz said that 24 thousand 800 companies in the country's construction sector could not confirm their membership in the Federation after the 2011 revolution, when the number of construction organizations in Egypt reached 41 thousand 500 companies.
The contractors who stopped their activities remained the Egyptian government of more than 13 billion pounds. Those who were able to remain in the market turn their business in Egypt and look for any opportunity to work outside the country, especially in Qatar, libya, Saudi Arabia and Algeria.
