In January 2013, production steel in the Russian Federation, compared with December 2012, increased by 1.4% and amounted to 5 million 700 thousand tons. This was reported in Rosstat.
Cast iron smelting over the past month increased by 4.6% to 4 million 300 thousand tons, the production of metal production increased by 1% to 4 million 400 thousand tons, while the manufacture of a steel pipe decreased by 13.6% to 744 thousand tons.
Meanwhile, in an annual comparison (January 2012 and January 2013), steel production in Russia was reduced by 5.8%, cast iron rose by 0.1%, and the production of metal rolling was reduced by 2.8%.
In January 2013, the Russian mining sector issued 28 million tons of coal, which is 2.7% less than in January last year and 12.3% less than in December 2012. However, the production of metallurgical coke has increased to 2 million 300 thousand tons, which is 0.3% more than in January 2012 and 2.2% higher than in December last year.
As we have already reported, in 2012, the Russian Federation increased the production of cast iron compared to 2011 by 5.2% to 50 million 500 thousand tons, increased the smelting of steel by 3.3% - up to 70 million 400 thousand tons and produced 4% more than in 2011 - 61 million 800 thousand tons.
