The scrap market is expected to remain tough
Kovalevsky stated that scrap prices are formed under the influence of prevailing market dynamics, including seasonal factors, and therefore remain volatile. Looking ahead, he said he expects restrictions on scrap supply to remain in place through 2026, while maintaining tough market conditions.
Scrap consumption at Metinvest plants is determined by the production programs of individual facilities. However, in recent years, the limited availability of scrap has often led to adjustments to production plans, reduced production volumes, or increased reliance on cast iron. These restrictions also disrupted the technological processes at several plants.
