For the full year, global crude steel production fell by two percent year-on-year to 1.8 billion tons.
In December, steel production in Asia and Oceania totaled 99.7 million tons, which is 6.3% less than last year. China's production volume was 68.2 million tons, which is 10.3 percent less, while Japan produced 6.6 million tons, which is 4.8 percent less, India - 14.8 million tons, which is 10.1 percent more, and South Korea - 5.2 million tons, which is 2.4 percent less, while all year-on-year comparisons.
The EU-27 countries produced 9.9 million tons of crude steel in December, which is 3.9% more than last year. During the specified period, production in Germany amounted to 2.7 million tons, which is 0.2 percent less than in the previous year. Turkey produced 3.5 million tons of crude steel in December, an increase of 18.5% compared to the same month of the previous year.
In the CIS, steel production amounted to 6.9 million tons, a decrease of 2.7% year-on-year, while estimated production in Russia amounted to 5.8 million tons, which is 4.4% less than in the same period last year.
In North America, crude steel production was 9 million tons, down 0.4 percent from last year, and in the United States it was 6.9 million tons, up 3.6 percent year-on-year. Steel production in South America in December was 3.2
