In 2025, domestic sales of the household appliances sector by the six main product groups decreased by three percent year-on-year, while the downward trend in exports observed in recent years continued, with exports falling by 10 percent year-on-year. Mr. Shengul said, "As a sector that exports about 70 percent of its products, we need export support policies more than ever to ensure that these losses do not become permanent." The continued decline in exports has also affected production, with output in 2025 declining by nine percent year-on-year.
Mr. Shengul noted that the rising costs of inputs, energy and financing, as well as uncertainty in trade policy weakened competitiveness. He added that low-cost products from Far Eastern manufacturers, which are gaining market share in foreign markets, are putting additional pressure on the sector. Shengul stressed that the current and recently launched anti-dumping investigations against certain product groups carry the risk of further increasing the already high input costs.
