South Korean metallurgical company Pohang Iron and Steel Co. (POSCO) announced consolidated financial results for 2025.
The company's operating profit was KRW 1.83 trillion ($1.26 billion), compared to operating profit of KRW 2.17 trillion in 2024. In 2025, POSCO's sales revenue decreased 4.9 percent year-on-year to KRW 69.09 trillion ($47.66 billion), and its net profit was KRW 504 billion ($349.68 million), down 46.8 percent from its net profit of KRW 948 billion in 2024. The company's profits fell due to rising raw material costs and lower production and sales volumes.
POSCO produced 32.49 million tons of steel last year, down two percent from the previous year, while finished steel sales fell 1.6 percent year on year to 32.27 million tons.
The company began construction of its plant HyREX in Pohang and commissioned an electric arc furnace in Gwangyang to ensure timely response to the demand for low carbon steel. The HyREX plant is scheduled to be commissioned in early 2028.
