Import of slabs to Turkey decreased by 2.6 percent in 2025

In December 2025, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 372,164 metric tons, which is 2.7 percent less compared to November and 21.2 percent less year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports totaled $172.25 million, down 2.8% from the previous month and 25.6% year-on-year.

In 2025, the import of slabs to Turkey amounted to 3.97 million tons, which is 2.6 percent less, while the value of these imports decreased by 12 percent to $1.89 billion, year-on-year.

During the specified period, Russia was the largest source of slab imports to Turkey, which supplied 2.06 million tons, which is 21.4 percent more than last year. Russia was followed by Malaysia with 828,216 tons, which is 41.8 percent less than last year, and Algeria with 608,914 tons, which is 297.2 percent more than last year.
