The production of base metals in Taiwan increased by 2.65 percent in January 2026 compared with December

Taiwan's industrial production index in January this year fell by 6.65 percent from the previous month and rose by 28.51 percent year-on-year, according to the country's Ministry of Economy (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index fell by 0.08 percent month-on-month and increased by 22.70 percent year-on-year.

In this month, industrial production in the country's main metalworking sector increased by 2.65 percent, while output of metal products decreased by 2.27 percent compared to the previous month. In addition, year-on-year in January, the production volume of the main metalworking sector increased by 4.88 percent, while the production volume of metal products increased by 14.19 percent.

Meanwhile, in January, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment increased by 22.29 percent, while production in the automotive industry increased by 14.66 percent year-on-year.
