According to the monthly consumer trends survey published by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), the consumer confidence index* in Turkey, which stood at 85.7 points in February this year, fell 0.8 percent month-on-month to 85.0 points in March this year, having previously increased by 2.3 percent in February 2026.
According to indices based on selected questions asked of Turkish consumers regarding consumer trends, the index for the overall current economic situation in March rose 3.1 percent month-on-month to 59.0 points, while the index for the overall economic situation in the next 12 months fell 2.9 percent from February to 79.1 points.
Meanwhile, this month's index is suitable time to buy durable goods increased by 2.8 percent to 55.3 points, while the index of the probability of purchasing durable goods in the next 12 months fell 0.5 percent to 102.7 points, both on a monthly basis.
In March, the probability of buying a car in the next 12 months decreased by 0.3 percent to 23.5 points, and the index of the probability of purchasing or home construction in the next 12 months rose 2.7 percent to 15.8 points, both month-on-month.
*When the index is above 100, it indicates an optimistic outlook, when it is 100, it indicates a neutral outlook, and below 100, a pessimistic outlook.
