Turkey's foreign trade deficit increased by 15.9 percent to $9.31 billion in February this year compared to February 2025, according to preliminary foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). In the first two months of this year, Turkey's foreign trade deficit rose 13.8 percent year-on-year to $17.42 billion.
In February, Turkey's iron and steel industry grew and exports ranked seventh among the country's goods with the highest export value, amounting to $758.05 million, down 8.4 percent from last year. Meanwhile, this month, the export value of iron and steel products, which ranked eighth among the products with the highest export value, increased by nine percent year on year to US$755.72 million.
In January-February this year, the export value of iron and steel from Turkey decreased by 13.2 percent to US$1.41 billion, and the export value of iron and steel products from iron and steel increased 3.2 percent to $1.47 billion year on year
