According to Statistics Canada, the country's iron and steel imports totaled 857,269 tonnes in February 2026, down 58.7 per cent from last year. In value terms, iron and steel imports totaled $558.62 million in February 2026, up from $907.87 million in the same month in 2025.
Canada imported the most iron and steel from the United States in a given month, with 233,444 tons. Other top sources of iron and steel imports in February included South Korea with 21,318 tons.
Between January and February last year Canada's imports of iron and steel were 5.63 million tons, down 60.2 percent from last year. In value terms, iron and steel imports totaled $1.31 billion in the first two months of 2026, up from $1.79 billion in the corresponding period in 2025.
