India and Russia have initiated engagement to explore expanded sourcing of raw materials, technological cooperation, equipment manufacturing and research capabilities between the countries in the steel sector, according to an official government announcement on Friday, April 17.
A Russian delegation, consisting of representatives from industry and related sectors, joined Indian counterparts for discussions. The meeting allowed for constructive interaction and exchange of views on key issues in the steel sector, the statement said.
“The India-Russia round table was held today at the Ministry of Steel. The meeting was co-chaired by the Secretary of the Ministry of Steel of India and Mikhail Yurin, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation,” the statement said.
During the meeting, both sides discussed various aspects of bilateral cooperation and reviewed the existing interaction between the two countries. Discussions were held on broad areas related to the steel sector and related industries with a view to further strengthening cooperation, it said.
