French steel sheet manufacturer Industeel, part of Luxembourg steel company ArcelorMittal Group, has announced the supply of steel sheets for ongoing construction work at the Sagrada Familia in Spain. UR 2205 duplex slabs will support the new structural elements on the Glory façade, the highest and most visible of the building's façades.
The supplied slabs are used in structural applications in the basilica, supporting the further development of one of Europe's most famous architectural projects.
The materials are designed to meet the stringent technical and quality requirements required for complex building projects work.
High-strength steel for a demanding project
The steel plates provide high strength and reliability, providing structural stability to key building elements, the company says. The project requires materials that can meet demanding engineering standards while maintaining durability over time.
UR 2205 duplex plates are available in thicknesses of 8, 65, 80 and 100 mm. Duplex stainless steel is widely used in demanding environments where mechanical strength and corrosion resistance are essential. It provides:
- about twice the yield strength of typical austenitic stainless steels.
- superior corrosion resistance compared to 316L.
- weight reduction due to improved strength-to-thickness ratio.
- long-term
