The restart follows a 60 million zloty ($15 million) overhaul focused on key components of the installation.
The reconstruction included the restoration of the hearth using new ceramic materials, modernization of the cooling system, repair or replacement of worn components. The upgrade is expected to extend the furnace's operational life by about four years.
The main repair work lasted more than 70 days, with up to 300 specialists from 20 external companies participating in peak activity. According to the company, the work was completed safely and allowed for an effective re-commissioning of the blast furnace.
ArcelorMittal Poland stated that the restart was carried out as soon as market conditions allowed, after an earlier closure.
The company noted that high energy costs remain a serious problem for steel producers in Europe.
EU trade measures are expected to support market conditions
The company expressed optimism about regulatory changes such as the Carbon Boundary Adjustment Mechanism and the new EU tariff rate.
