Brazil's pig iron exports reached 267,200 tons in April, down nearly 7 percent from March's 287,000 tons, due to a lack of shipments to Europe, according to data from SECEX, Brazil's foreign trade secretariat under the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.
SECEX data shows that 35,700 tons of Brazil's pig iron exports were not delivered to Europe. February accounted for 377,800 tonnes in March and 407,700 tonnes in January.
Destinations in April included the United States (259,100 tonnes at US$428/t), Asia (5,100 tonnes at US$510/t) and Argentina (3,000 tonnes at US$393/t), conditions FOB
.Such prices were likely agreed in February, with the BPI grade price below $434 per tonne and the cast grade price above that level, market insiders told SteelOrbis.
Exports were from producers in the southeastern states of Minas Gerais and Espirito Santo (221,100 tons) and Mato Grosso do Sul (46 100 tons). m), in the central-western region of Brazil.
